A fine Chinese Kangxi period blue and white lidded  jar depicting a noble man mounted on a Qilin, a mythical beast and being escorted by his entourage. The lid depicting Bats in flight. Of note is the script, reverse of art work

Having been closely inspected in day light and with black light, all is in vey good order with no damage.

The vase has the occasional pitting from the firing process and exhibits two blue circles to the base and lid.

The carved wooden base is included in the lot, however this is of a much more recent date.

Notes, The Qilin is a beast in Chinese folklore which is supposed a benevolent beast and a harbinger of change,  the death of on emperor perhaps and the rise of another.
