So I’m sitting at home thinking of new opportunities for marketing Borwick Studio. You know, social media , stalls, fairs and the such.

In the south eastern tip of Cumbria lies the quintessential English town of Kirkby Lonsdale. Rural, historic and whilst the roads about are a magnet for motorbike riders, the town remains peaceful. Drive out and about a bit and you see fields, hills, trees, rivers and nowt much else. Up the road a-ways, into the back of beyond lies the beautiful and sleepy hamlet of Barbon. Having a population of just 236, Barbon is not the place you’d expect to find an antiques and vintage fair.

But there it is…practically every month, and it’s been happening for years!.

So I’m thinking, who would bother going there? and why? It doesn’t even show on my sat nav for goodness sake! Anyway, I casually muted the idea to the other half of setting up a table there. To my surprise it was approved and I booked in for February.

Now, you’re thinking, Is he nuts? An antique fair in February! in a place with a population of 236 that is 10 miles from, well, anywhere!.

The prospect of sitting behind a table full of vintage home decor in a village hall that was totally devoid of customers had occurred to me but before you fall off your seat laughing I’d like to say it did work and surprisingly well too.

Like most fairs, you have to dig through the bric a brac, but there are good antique and vintage pieces to be found.(Especially on my table of course).

The organisers make a point of advertising home made food and drinks. Thats fortunate because I had forgotten to bring my half time grub.

If you’re not one for browsing the fairs for your home decor (or navigating all the way out to Barbon, where ever that is), then stay right here and check out some of our high quality pieces from the SHOP
