Royal Doulton Table Lamp

Oozing bygone Victorian era appeal. This fine late 19th century  Royal Doulton ceramic "Onion Vase" is utilised as the base for this eye catching table lamp.

This is a hybrid piece, the vase having a "plug-in" lamp holder which is fitted with a a stunning green lampshade adorned with beaded fringe and tassels. Perfect for creating a warm and sophisticated ambiance in any living space.

The base is a fine example of 19th century Doulton Lambeth stoneware having Art Nouveau style and appeal.

A sizeable statement vase in John Slaters Onion pattern.

Impressed stamp marks to base.

This vase has vague sign of restoration on rim.

About. John Slater (1844 - 1914) was the Art Director at Doulton & Co. Burslem from 1887 until his death in 1914. He studied at the Stoke-on-Trent School of Design and worked at Minton and then Pinder, Bourne & Co.,

As well as being a painter, Slater was involved in the development of many of the special glazes  and techniques. "Doulton & Slaters Patent", a process which involves the use of lace fabrics impressed into the surface of clay as a decorative technique.
