A finely executed work depicting a rather frisky fowl defending itself very admirably from
a scavenging terrier dog.
This work appears to be in gouache on board.
There is no signature or date though it is very probably mid 19th Century. Possibly in the circle of George Armfield., Or even by him!! . No provenance
The frame is gilt with a gesso/plaster moulding which does have signs of touch up, though not significant.
The art work is undamaged and is mounted under glass.
Of small proportions, the size being 13" x 11"
and the visible work being 6.5" x 5.5"
